Sugarscape comes from Joshua Epstein and Robert Axtell's agent-based economics work: a simple artificial society where local movement, metabolism, and resource renewal produce unequal outcomes.

This version keeps the first pass focused. Patches hold sugar capacity and current sugar; traders have energy, metabolism, and vision. Each trader looks across its visible patch radius, chooses the richest unoccupied patch it can see, moves there, harvests sugar, pays metabolism, and dies if energy reaches zero. The board uses reusable resource and energy presentation helpers so the economy reads at a glance.
