The Ants model is a classic agent-based foraging example from the NetLogo lineage: individual insects follow only local cues, yet the colony appears to discover and reinforce paths between nest and food.
Patches hold food, nest membership, nest scent, and a diffusing chemical trail. Ant pets are released over time, switch between searching and carrying, follow chemical gradients toward food, follow nest scent home, deposit chemical while carrying, and let diffusion plus evaporation continually redraw the trail network.
